My client, a proudly independent veterinary group in the Swindon area, urgently requires a full-time Locum Veterinary Surgeon from Monday 2nd November 2026.
This is an ongoing position while the practice recruits permanently. The preferred arrangement would be a short-term employed contract, although vets interested in a traditional locum arrangement or the permanent vacancy are also encouraged to enquire.
The successful vet will be based predominantly at one of the practice’s branches, working four longer days each week with every Friday off.

About the Practice
The practice is a long-established, independent veterinary group with several branches and its own RCVS-accredited small animal hospital.
It offers an extensive range of first-opinion and hospital services, supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team. The group is large enough to manage complex and unexpected cases while retaining the personal, collaborative culture of independent practice.
The successful vet can expect:
A varied small animal caseload
Support from an experienced veterinary and nursing team
Access to the group’s veterinary hospital
Modern diagnostic and surgical facilities
Excellent opportunities for case discussion
A strong emphasis on empathetic patient and client care
The freedom and flexibility associated with independent practice
Additional Opportunities
The practice is also recruiting for:
A permanent Veterinary Surgeon to fill this branch-based position
An employed internal Locum Veterinary Surgeon to work across the group’s different branches and sites
The internal locum position offers an enhanced salary to reflect the flexibility and travel involved. Candidates interested in either employed opportunity are welcome to contact HSL for a confidential discussion.
