My client is seeking a passionate and motivated Head Veterinary Nurse to lead their dedicated nursing team within a well-established small animal practice in Hertfordshire. This is an excellent opportunity to combine clinical nursing with leadership responsibilities whilst maintaining an excellent work-life balance.
Situated within a charming rural shopping village just inside the M25, the practice offers a unique working environment surrounded by independent shops, cafés and green spaces, with ample free parking available on-site.
The Opportunity
This role offers the perfect blend of leadership and hands-on nursing. Youll play a key role in supporting and developing the nursing team, managing rotas, maintaining clinical standards and helping drive the practice forward, whilst continuing to enjoy a varied clinical caseload.

The Practice
The practice is modern, purpose-built and well-equipped, featuring:
In-house IDEXX laboratory
Ultrasound
Digital radiography
Dental radiography
Dedicated dental suite
Class IV therapeutic laser
Climate-controlled consulting and clinical areas
Heated preparation and theatre tables

The Team
Youll be joining a friendly and established team consisting of:
2 Veterinary Surgeons
2 Registered Veterinary Nurses
1 Veterinary Care Assistant
1 Full-Time Receptionist
The Role
40 hours per week
4-day working week
Option to work 5 shorter days if preferred
1 in 3 Saturday mornings (4-hour shift included within contracted hours)
No out-of-hours requirements
Combination of clinical nursing and leadership duties

Support and development of the nursing team

About You
Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)
Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience
Previous senior or leadership experience advantageous
Clinical Coach qualification desirable but not essential
Strong organisational and communication skills
Passion for delivering outstanding patient care
Committed to supporting and developing colleagues
Keen to help shape and influence nursing standards within the practice
