Locum Veterinary Surgeon – Crawley, West Sussex

My independent client in Crawley requires an experienced Locum Veterinary Surgeon for a long-term booking while the practice recruits a permanent team member.

The practice would ideally like a locum who can work five eight-hour shifts per week, generally either 8am–4pm or 12pm–8pm. The rota will include a mixture of consultations and operations, with approximately one operating shift each week.

The Crawley site is exceptionally well equipped, with two operating theatres, laparoscopic equipment, a dedicated dental suite with dental radiography, digital radiography, CT, an in-house laboratory and separate facilities for feline, canine and exotic patients.

The practice would also like to know whether candidates could assist with occasional out-of-hours cover in the event of sickness.

This is a hybrid system where the veterinary surgeon remains on call until 10pm, after which calls are transferred to a dedicated out-of-hours service. Inpatients remain at the practice under the care of an experienced night RVN. The vet would need to be available by telephone if a patient deteriorated, although calls are reportedly very uncommon.
