Permanent Veterinary Surgeon – Reading, Berkshire
My client in Reading is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join its team on a full-time, permanent basis, starting as soon as possible.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident general practitioner who enjoys a varied combination of first-opinion consultations, diagnostic work and surgery. The practice is particularly interested in finding someone who enjoys teaching and supporting colleagues, with previous leadership experience or an interest in progressing into a leadership position being highly desirable.
The practice provides high-quality first-opinion companion animal care, with services ranging from routine consultations and preventative healthcare to dentistry, diagnostic imaging, laparoscopic procedures, orthopaedics and more advanced soft-tissue surgery.
The Role
Permanent Veterinary Surgeon
Full-time position
40 hours across four days
1:4 Saturday rota
ASAP start
Combination of consultations, diagnostics and surgery
General practitioner caseload
No accommodation available
Salary from £48,000, depending on experience
About You
The successful candidate should:
Be registered with the RCVS
Have a minimum of three years’ veterinary experience
Be confident undertaking general consultations and surgery
Enjoy teaching, mentoring and supporting other team members
Have previous leadership experience or an interest in developing into leadership
Be comfortable working as a general practitioner
Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
Work well as part of a collaborative clinical team
Candidates with additional qualifications, specialist skills or particular clinical interests are welcome to apply. However, the practice does not currently have the caseload to support a solely specialist-biased position, so applicants must be happy undertaking general practice work alongside developing their chosen interests.
