Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon – South Yorkshire / Derbyshire Border
Salary: £40,000 – £60,000 DOE (Pro Rata for Part-Time)
Full Time or Part Time | 4-Day Week | Independent Practice
My client, a well-established independent small animal practice with multiple sites across South Yorkshire and Derbyshire, is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join their friendly and experienced team following the relocation of a valued colleague overseas.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a genuinely family-run practice where clinical standards, team wellbeing, and work-life balance are placed at the heart of everything they do.
The practice has built an excellent reputation within the local community and benefits from a highly experienced and supportive team consisting of multiple Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses, Student Veterinary Nurses, dedicated reception staff, and an experienced management team. They pride themselves on creating a positive working environment where everyone is encouraged to enjoy their work while delivering exceptional patient care.
The successful candidate will enjoy a varied caseload with a good balance of consultations and surgery. The practice is keen to support individual interests in both medicine and surgery and actively encourages further development through CPD and certificate study.
Consultations are scheduled at 15 minutes as standard, allowing vets the time required to build strong client relationships and work cases up thoroughly. Dedicated admin time and regular breaks are also built into the day to support clinical quality and team wellbeing.
The Role:
• Full-time or part-time position available
• 4-day working week
• Set day off each week
• 1 in 5 Saturday rota
• No mention of out-of-hours requirements
• Varied first opinion medical and surgical caseload
• Support for clinical interests and career progression
The Ideal Candidate:
• Ideally 3+ years experience, although all applications will be considered
• Enjoys both consulting and surgery
• Strong communication and client care skills
• Team-oriented approach
• Compassionate and patient-focused
• Keen to continue developing professionally
The Practice Offers:
• Salary between £40,000 and £60,000 DOE
• Bonus scheme
• Generous annual leave allowance

• RCVS and VDS memberships paid
• Certificates actively encouraged and supported
• Generous CPD allowance
• Modern facilities and equipment
• Supportive and experienced team environment
• Overtime returned as TOIL
• Strong focus on employee wellbeing
