Veterinary Surgeon – Hertfordshire
Salary: Up to £80,000+ per year, negotiable DOE
Hours: 40 hours across 4 days
Weekends: 1:3, 10:00am–1:00pm
Role: Consultations, surgery and mobile veterinary work
Looking for a veterinary role that offers something genuinely different from the standard first-opinion position?
My client in Hertfordshire is looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their close-knit team in a varied role combining traditional practice-based veterinary work with an innovative mobile veterinary service.
Alongside consultations and surgery within the practice, you’ll have the opportunity to work from a fully equipped mobile pet ambulance capable of carrying out surgical procedures. It’s a particularly interesting opportunity for a vet who enjoys variety, autonomy and getting out of the consulting room while still maintaining a strong surgical and clinical caseload.
The Role
Salary up to £80,000+, negotiable depending on experience
40-hour contract across 4 days
1:3 weekends, just 10:00am–1:00pm
Mix of consultations and surgery
Typically 3–4 surgical procedures per day, depending on the cases and vet rota
Combination of practice-based and mobile veterinary work
Mobile pet ambulance equipped to facilitate surgical procedures
Charity work forms part of the practice's caseload
X-ray and ultrasound available in practice
No CT or MRI
The Team
You’ll be joining a small, established team consisting of:
2 Veterinary Nurses
1 VCA
Practice Manager
Practice owner
1 full-time Veterinary Surgeon
1 part-time Veterinary Surgeon
Additional locum support
This could be a fantastic opportunity for a confident Veterinary Surgeon who wants a genuinely varied working week rather than spending four days following the same consulting and operating routine.
The combination of a close-knit practice environment, surgical caseload and mobile veterinary work makes this a particularly unusual position, with the salary negotiable for the right person.
